He returned to southwest Iowa and on Oct. 3, 1952, in Red Oak, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Lucille S. Stackhouse. He and Lucille were blessed with a continuing relationship with his daughter, Cheryl, who always considered Lucille her mom. During this time Roger worked for General Motors as a mechanic and then for GMAC Credit, retiring in 1982.

Roger was preceded in death by wife Lucille in 2001, his parents Charles and Irene Johnson, and his brother Charles Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Harvey of Junction City, and his granddaughter, Linda Harvey-Yates of Oak Grove, Mo.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be sent directly to a local chapter of the American Heart Association in his name. Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca is in charge of the arrangements.
