J.C. Little Theater Guild

The support group of J.C. Little Theater, the Theater Guild, met Friday, Feb. 1 at 9:30 a.m. with 20 members present. After a brunch served by hostesses, Mary Kay Munson, Nancy Sampson and Mary Anderson, President Anessa Locke called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer’s report were read by Sandy Wong and Chris Munson and approved by those present.

Plastic storage bins have recently been purchased for better storage of small costume items, but after finding we need more, it was moved and seconded to buy more for this use.

The old business consisted of a report given on our last show, “Dream a Little Dream of Christmas” with mention that the concessions were popular with the large audiences who attended.

Mary Louise Stahl was congratulated for her good work in directing the show.

New business:

• Those present reviewed our agreement with the Opera House to provide a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer box office work the week preceding each show.

• The next show, “The Miracle Worker”, directed by Steven Hornbaker and produced by John Triplett will be presented on Feb. 15, 16 and 17.

• All committee chairladies for work by the Guild passed out their lists for sign-up work: Sandy Wong, calling lists; Sue Hornbaker, box office workers; Florence Whitebread, concessions. Florence stated that Valentine cookies, coffee and hot chocolate will be served and gave the times and dates for these to be delivered by Guild members.

• Ellen Westerhaus showed two of the costumes she has made for this late 1800’s show.

• There will be a program folding session on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the Theater office and volunteers were called for this task.

• The serving of hors d’ouerves before this production will be cancelled and this tradition will be addressed separately for each show in the future.

• President Anessa passed out posters for members to distribute around the community.

The changed dates for the theater’s Spring show were announced. On May 10, 11 and 12 “Into the Woods” by Steven Sondheim and directed by Jennifer and Michael Brown will be presented. The date of the next Guild meeting was set for Wednesday, April 24.

Better methods for packaging and serving popcorn was discussed and adopted. Pat Stuckey announced that a local man, Devin Scillian, originally from Junction City has written a children’s play and requested that we investigate the play and whether our Theater group should try to produce it.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 a.m.
